The Club

Founded in 2023 by international students. Now in our third season, based at Highbury Park in Burwood, with 35+ active players.

Our story

The Eleventh Hour

The club's Kannada mark: Melbourne Punters in Kannada script, with a batsman.

The club mark

ಮೆಲ್ಬರ್ನ್ ಪಂಟರ್ಸ್

Melbourne Punters, written in Kannada. The club's second mark, and a nod to the tournaments it plays — the Karnataka Premier League and the Rockers Rajyotsava.

The Punters exist because somebody did the unglamorous part — booking the ground, chasing the numbers, and making sure eleven people actually turned up on a Sunday morning.

That first summer there were eleven of them and no guarantee of a twelfth. Three seasons on it is 35+ players and fifty-three matches, across the Karnataka Premier League and the Rockers Rajyotsava, at grounds on opposite sides of the city. None of it arranges itself, and holding it together between games is his job.

Nobody here is turned away for not being good enough. Ninety per cent of the list is under twenty-five, and the only thing asked of anyone is that they want a game — an easy thing to promise, and a harder one to keep every Sunday of a season.
